About Us

Kaye, Rose & Partners, LLP, was established in 1991 when Larry Kaye, Brad Rose left one of the nation’s most prestigious firms, to open offices in Los Angeles and San Diego. The firm grew quickly, opened its San Francisco office in 1993, and over the years has added many talented and service-oriented professionals from other widely-known national and international law firms.

From our inception we have served a unique blend of clients, ranging from the world’s leading commercial shippers and cruise lines, to major filmmakers and production companies and large and small businesses of every variety. We have expertise in many different areas of law, including commercial and business litigation; contract negotiation and transactions; labor and employment matters; product liability; insurance coverage and defense; regulatory, administrative and entertainment law; alternative dispute resolution; white-collar criminal defense; aviation defense; customs and trades; and general maritime law.

Our Mission

The mission that inspired our success has never changed: Work closely as a team to efficiently deliver the highest quality legal services at fair rates. Each of our attorneys in every office is an integral member of the Kaye, Rose family. From our inception this team building approach, while rare in most law firms, has been a hallmark for the attorneys who join us.

When major marine casualties occur, it is essential to have responsive, expert maritime counsel at hand. Kaye, Rose & Partners, LLP has been involved in all types of major casualties, including collisions, fires, strandings, sinkings, personal injury/death, cargo loss, pollution, environmental contamination and limitation of liability matters. Our industry knowledge and experience in major casualties results in practical solutions and efficient use of resources.

Civil Litigation

We routinely represent both businesses and individuals in commercial litigation. Our attorneys have assisted these clients in all aspects of their businesses, including civil litigation involving claims for breach of contract, fraud, interference with contract or economic advantage, federal and state securities laws, negligence, environmental claims, copyright and service mark infringement, professional malpractice, suits for injunctions and antitrust violations and partnership, corporate, real estate and franchise disputes.

Kaye, Rose & Partners, LLP represents vessel owners, shippers, charterers, consignees and their underwriters in claims for cargo loss, theft and damage. Our attorneys have handled cargo losses and general average claims valued from several thousand to many millions of dollars. Our expertise encompasses dry and liquid cargoes, bulk and container ships and supertankers. We have litigated matters involving virtually every peril of the sea, spanning hundreds of different commodities.

Over the years, Kaye, Rose & Partners, LLP has developed an extensive technical and operational network of experts and consultants. We have handled several post-OPA spills representing vessel owners and P&I clubs through all stages of the occurrence. We are able to assist in the appointment of on-scene coordinators, clean-up contractors and technical surveyors. We provide cost containment supervision during the clean-up phase and have substantial experience negotiating settlements of third-party claims and defending civil and criminal fines. We have acquired a unique understanding of the role of attorneys in this complex arena, regularly reviewing and developing ISM manuals, oil-spill response and other disaster and contingency plans.
